We've taken the voyages of the starship Enterprise one adventure further with a series of original movie-style art print sets commemorating every episode of Star Trek, the iconic American television series that aired from 1966 to 1969.

Designer/illustrator Juan Ortiz talks about the inspiration for our seventeenth set of Star Trek: The Original Series Art Prints, which includes:

Episode 26: Errand of Mercy. With war brewing between the Klingon Empire and the Federation, Kirk and Spock attempt to prevent the seemingly primitive natives of Organia from becoming collateral damage. Ortiz took the symbol of the Terran Empire, the repressive interstellar government from the mirror universe, and made the hilt of the sword into a Klingon D7 battle cruiser.

Episode 32: The Changeling. In this episode, the Enterprise must defend itself and Malurian system against a damaged, intelligent space probe that is seeking out and destroying anything it deems to be imperfect. Ortiz stylized the probe, called Nomad. He says, 'I wanted Nomad to take on a more human-like form. The antennas here work as arms, while his body is removed sot that I could add speed lines. It gave me a sort of 'super-villain' feel to it, so I added the copy.'

Episode 41: The Deadly Years. Here, Ortiz shows Death looming over the Enterprise, as senior officers of the Enterprise race against accelerated aging caused by radiation exposure on Gamma Hydra IV.

Episode 49: Return to Tomorrow. 'I always wanted to try placing an eye within the Enterprise hull simply as a design element,' says Ortiz. He got his chance with this episode on a distant, long-dead world, survivors of an ancient race existing only as pure energy 'borrow' the bodies of Captain Kirk, First Officer Spock and astro-biologist Ann Mulhall with disastrous consequences. The artist says he turned to Russian-style posters for inspiration in this design.

The Star Trek: The Original Series Art Prints - Set 17 consists of plate-printed lithographs on 100-pound, aqueous-coated, satin-finish paper. Each print measures 18 inches x 24 inches.

The set and all others in this series will be available for a limited time only. None will be repeated or reprinted after they're gone.
