The complete et of "Star Trek: Deep Space 9" is a "must-own" for any Trekkie -- but you don't have to be one to enjoy this series. From season 1 on, Deep Space 9 (DS9) proved itself, not only a worthy successor to it's predecessors TOS and TNG, but "Out-Trekked" them in surprising, entertaining, and innovative ways. The series is more timely than ever topically, and the characters feel more real, more fleshed out, and more 3 dimensional than in any other of the 5 series. It's technically superior to TOS, it's characters more real than TNG or Enterprise, and it explored ideas more deeply than Voyager. We get to witness "people" dealing, not only with the issues of War, Occupation, Terrorism, ethics, and morality, but with eachother. From redemption, forgiveness, sacrifice, dedication, friendship, greed, lust, and Power, hatred, love, loss... Deep Space 9 was not afraid to explore a little closer to home. Even if you aren't a Trekkie, this show will appeal to you. It goes beyond simple science fiction and crosses over into real drama.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
